Glorious May

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010
Well if you haven’t logged on in the past month or so or missed the April meeting, you might not be aware that the May meeting of the Raleigh Civil War Round Table is taking place this coming Saturday, May 1st at 12:00pm, instead of our usual 2nd Monday of the month.  And what a meeting it will be, featured this month is noted Tidewater historian Dr. John V. Quarstein and our subject matter will be on the Battle of Big Bethel.  Tickets, $10 each, will be available at the door.  Hope to see you there.  Check out the Knapsack for additional information.

A Reminder: Saturday, May 1st

Federal Fortifications at the Big Bethel Battlefield

Federal Fortifications at the Big Bethel Battlefield

Just a friendly reminder from the RCWRT about our upcoming May Meeting concerning the Battle of Big Bethel and the ongoing preservation efforts associated with the site.
Tickets are still available and at $10, quite a bargain I must say to sit and listen to noted historian, John V. Quarstein.  All profits from this event will be donated to the Hampton History Museum in their effort to help preserve and interpret remaining portions of the original battlefield.

Unfortunately Charles Hawks, our newsletter editor, has run into technical difficulties on his personal computer, meaning we’ll be without a Knapsack for the month.

Ever the dedicated member, Charles has put together a list of local events to quell your Civil War needs for the month of April though:
