CWPT map of Chancellorsville track
I’m sure most of us are aware of the Civil War Preservation Trust and their commitment to save and protect historical property for future generations.
Well it appears the organization is in the midst of a fight to preserve a crucial 80 acre tract of the Chancellorsville Battlefield associated with Stonewall Jackson’s flank attack on the evening of May 2, 1863. Along with the Chancellorsville acreage, there are an additional 94 acres associated with the neighboring Wilderness Battlefield that also fits into the mix here.
The crux… this deal has to go down before 12/31/09 due to the expiration of matching funds from the state of Virginia BUT the good news is that matching funds calculates out to $8-to-$1 for every dollar you spend.
Enough from me. The good people at CWPT can tell you all you need to know.
